Jet Swet™ Questions and Answers
     • Every Jet Swet™ is calibrated to hold a maximum of 65 psi. We have heard of plumbers using them on much higher-pressure situations, but at that moment they forfeit our warranty, and we forfeit any liability.
     • The only part of the tool susceptible to heat damage is the gasket at the end of the tool. It is made of a special silicon/EPDM composite that withstands extreme heat, but you cannot solder right over it. We recommend placing the tool at least 5 inches into the pipe, away from the soldering site. If the job does not permit for this rule, you can place a wet rag around the pipe at the point where the gasket resides to keep it cool. If the gasket is unavoidably damaged, we make replacement gaskets very cheap and easy to replace.
     • Jet Swets™ washers look the same from the outside as any other washer you have ever seen, but on the inside, they are quite different. It is therefore important, when replacing parts or servicing the tool that you keep track of the washers and the order in which they were removed from the tool. The tool can be disassembled using a normal wrench. Make sure you replace the gasket with a correct sized gasket. Each tool is calibrated to use a specific gasket with specific properties. By using incorrect gaskets on your tool, you not only void the warranty, but you run the risk of damaging the tool, the pipe system or the tool not working.
     • The only maintenance on the tools is to replace the gaskets if they ever get torn, burned or misshapen. Secondly, you should re-grease the threads under the middle "tension" nut. This can be done by simply disassembling the tool from the gasket end. We recommend using a non-water soluble grease such as the "Boat & Marine Grease" sold at your favorite auto-supply shop such as Pep-Boys.
     • In all our years at Brenelle, only twice have we ever had a gasket come back to us because of "Manufacturer Defect". There's really nothing that we can do to engineer this part incorrectly. Most of the time, if the gasket comes out of the pipe misshapen or chewed up, there are two reasons.
  • The plumber before you did not ream the pipe correctly, leaving burrs inside which very often chew up the gasket.
  • The plumber over-tightened the gasket in such a way as to push the washers through the gasket and were torn out.
     • You won't believe how often we hear this. We've all used our sandwich bread or Mrs. Jones' bread to stop that annoying leak on a job. The problems with bread, and the reasons we invented Jet Swets™ are:
  • 1: Bread holds almost no pressure at all. There's nothing more annoying than working on a pipe with bread in it when the bread gives way and the released water ruins your solder seal. Jet Swets™ hold 65 lbs. of pressure instantly and all day long!
  • 2: You still have to wait for a long time until the water gets down to enough of a trickle where you can use bread. Jet Swets™ can be used instantly upon getting to the job and turning off the water.
  • 3: When that chunk of bread finally dissolves, it gums up the fixture and valves in the system.
  • 4: It just looks unprofessional...we mean, c'mon... its bread.
     • The Jet Swet™ can be used with almost all kinds of seamless pipe (meaning there is not a bead of solder or a fold down the leinght of the pipe).
  • Copper
  • PVC
  • ABS
  • Steel
  • Black Pipe

If you are working with a unique ID pipe, you may have to use a different Jet Swet™ than you would normally use for that size pipe. Just call us at 1-800-727-1018, and we will tell you which one is the best for your pipe.
     • Yes, as with any repair job, Jet Swets™ are to be used while the water pressure is turned off. Jet Swets™ are designed only to hold back the draining and siphoning water that keeps you from doing your repair. Many times, the draining and siphoning water still build up more than 65 lbs of pressure. In these cases, plumbers have told us the easiest way to get the pressure below 65 lbs is to open a bunch of sink and tub fixtures in the system until it is safe to use the Jet Swet™.
     • Yes.
     • Flo-Thru Jet Swets™ were designed to help in the situation where you are using a big Jet Swet™ in big pipe such as 2-1/2" 3" and 4". The pressure becomes so intense that we designed a tool that has a 1/2" cavity down it's center to allow you to drain water or add air to the system through the tool while actually doing the repair! You can connect a standard garden hose to the back end of the tool to drain the system to a sink or floor drain. These tools are so popular, people have almost altogether stopped buying the "normal" style 2-1/2", 3" and 4" Jet Swets™. They are so popular in fact, that we are coming out with Flo-Thru versions of all our smaller sizes 1/2" through 2" to add to the Flo-Thru collection.
     • You can get Jet Swets™ from your local plumbing supply shops. We just sell them online for those people who don't have a plumbing supply shop near them. It's often quite a deal cheaper and quicker to get them from your local supply shop.
     • You can always call Brenelle corporate headquarters at 1-800-727-1018, email us or fill out our online comment form.
     • There is a 1 year warranty on the steel and aluminum components of the Jet Swet™. The gasket has no warranty as they can be chewed up in the pipe due to circumstances out of your or my control. See the above comment on chewed up gaskets.
     • No, the 2-1/2", 3" and 4" Jet Swets™, whether "normal" style or Flo-Thru are just so big, that they could not go in any case that you would want to carry around. They are sold "Bulk" style, meaning it is just the too by itself.
     • Tell your local supply shop to call us at 1-800-727-1018 and we can get them set up with a supplier account in minutes. Truly, it is by your asking for Jet Swets™ that the suppliers want to stock them, so please tell them to stock Jet Swets™ frequently!
     • Yes. They are special order and take a bit of time to make, but we've made Jet Swets™ as long as 50" before. Please call well in advance of these types of jobs so we can make one for you. It takes roughly about 3 weeks.
     • If UPS goes there, we ship there.
     • We are proud to have modified our entire business to be able to ship product the same day it is ordered as long as we receive the order by 2:00pm pacific time. There are certain circumstances that may delay certain orders, but 98% of all orders go out the same day as ordered. We ship from Las Vegas, Nevada, so it should take no more than 5 business days to get your order anywhere in the continental US, often taking just a few business days.
     • Yes, we offer all the typical UPS shipping options: Next Day Air early, standard and saver. Second Day Air, Three Day Select, Saturday Delivery, and in the event of an emergency, same day to anywhere in the world delivery service.
     • The only repair part we make is for the only part that could ever go bad: the gasket. We make a replacement gasket for every size tool. We also sell a repair kit called the 1751 which is a kit of all the nuts, washers and gaskets to repair one each of the 1/2", 3/4" and 1" Jet Swets™ for those of us who have a tendency to loose small parts.
     • Same day with 98% of our orders. Neat huh?
     • Just call us at 1-800-727-1018. Most of our staff are master plumbers or engineers, and we can walk you through almost any situation. No question is too trivial or funny, we love to help and actually really enjoy advising people on our tools.
